Chiropractic Care

How Does Chiropractic Care Work?

Woman getting back adjustmentMisalignments in the spine create pressure on the nerves. Your nerves carry messages from your brain to your body, regulating all of its functions, so when misalignments interfere with this flow of communication, pain and dysfunction can result. Chiropractic care involves using gentle adjustments to remove pressure on the nerves, decreasing pain and improving range of motion.

When we remove the interference from the nervous systems, patients experience relief from a myriad of conditions and symptoms. Some issues we get great results with include:

  • Extremities (shoulder injuries, carpal tunnel, hip/knee/foot injuries)
  • Headaches/migraines
  • Low back pain
  • Mid back/rib pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sciatica
  • TMJ

Frequency of Care Is Based on Your Needs

You can’t go to the dentist once and have your teeth stay perfect forever. The same is true with your spine, and we recommend regular checkups to keep your body running optimally. But we never want to see patients more than they need—the frequency of your care will depend on your body’s needs.

Our Techniques

At Active Life Chiropractic, we treat every person according to their specific needs, so we offer a wide range of adjusting techniques to meet those needs. Your chiropractor will determine which type of adjustment is best suited to your situation, based on their findings from your consultation and examination. We also take your preferences into account, because we want you to be as relaxed as possible during your adjustments.

Our primary adjusting technique is Diversified, which is a manual (hands-on) adjusting technique that offers great results for getting patients out of pain and back to health.

Other options we offer are:

  • Activator Methods® instrument-assisted adjustments
  • Flexion Distraction for patients with disc issues
  • Thompson drop table for patients who prefer a lower-force adjustment
  • Webster technique for pregnant women

We also incorporate electrical muscle stimulation for patients with muscle spasms, to decrease the spasms so adjustments hold longer. And we use mechanical traction to help improve the range of motion in the spine for patients who need it.
